About this trip
We start cycling from Horta, spectacular mountains form the backdrop, where we may see Griffon vultures soar overhead, if we are lucky we might catch a glimpse of a mountain goat or two. Our route lasted 34 km, and we will finish in Xerta where we can seat at the cafe and have a cold drink.
We will enjoy the excitement of cycling through the many tunnels and over bridges. Most of the tunnels has automatic lighting activated by a sensor as you enter the tunnel. Others don't, so it is even more exciting when headlamps are needed!
In the middle of the route we will stop to swim in the river - natural pool and will enjoy a cooling dip and a picnic. The photo below was taken at Fontcalda, a true beauty spot surrounded by steep sided cliffs and where there are barbeque facilities and picnic tables.
Then finally, when we will leave the higher mountains behind us we will re-unit with the majestic Ebro, which we will ride alongside for the last few kilometers.
